Ingrid Carls has retired from the WCC board after more than twenty years. She served as our president for seven years and worked with our nomination process, publicity, fundraising, the newsletter, and programs. As program chair, she created spring and fall programs dealing with landscape planning for adults as well as educational nature-related topics for children. She helped implement signage for our sanctuaries, our new logo, the new brochure and the republished "Walks in Wellesley." Her most recent project has been the restoration of Coveside Bank Sanctuary and the creation at the sanctuary of a sustainable "rain garden in bloom." She will be missed. We wish her the best and hope she still remain active in the WCC. As Ingrid herself says, "The importance for me is, and will remain, to preserve and protect Wellesley's open spaces. The WCC and my active involvement all along played an important part in keeping Wellesley green."
