Understand our History
The Wellesley Conservation Council was founded in 1958 to protect and preserve Wellesley's environment, its fields, forests, streams and wetlands for future generations and to promote environmental education.

Visit our Sanctuaries
The Council purchased its first property, Pickle Point, in March 1960. When asked, "What do you plan to do with it?" we answered, "Why, leave it as it is, of course." This was a new idea to some people. Guernsey Sanctuary, the Heyl Sanctuary, Pickle Point, Cronk's Rocky Woodland and the Lienau Memorial Trail in Carisbrooke Reservation are beautiful sanctuaries to visit throughout the seasons. Learn Through our Programs
We offer two educational programs each year that are free and open to the public, a yearly guided tour of Cronk's Rocky Woodland, our wildflower garden, and sponsor the Edwina Lareau Prize, a photo essay contest, open to all seventh grade science students at the Wellesley Middle School.

Participate in a Bird Walk
This spring join the Council on a series of bird walks led by experienced naturalists. The leader will direct the group to the most promising birding site of the day.
